Aerodrom Wine House

A little bit of vis. a little bit of that.

Almost one month into exploring the magical country of Croatia, I had a visitor from back home come to stay with me and so I got to play tour guide.

DAY ONE was a visit to #VisIsland, a place that has retained its small island charm, partly because it only recently opened its doors to tourism in 1989.

For 30 years, Vis served as the Yugoslav military base cutting off any visitors during that time and was the location where #MamaMia II was filmed in 2018.

Beauty aside, the most intriguing reasons to visit Vis – the farthest Island from mainland Croatia – is its rich history and its mostly wild and untouched terrain.

And the olive oil!

Which, I learned from our #TourGuide should be consumed often throughout the day in the same way some of us consume cinnamon, turmeric or ginger…

Driving around the island I don’t get that same ‘this is home’ feeling as I did on Brač Island…  This island actually makes me sleepy. Maybe it’s all of the walking and learning and sea air and sunny skies… Or maybe it’s something else.

None-the-less… At each turn of these large cobblestone streets, I’m mesmerized into wanting more.

STAY TUNED for DAY 2 when we visit nearby surrounding islands and caves!
